I’m Elaine Gan aka Elaine Green | Photographer, a creative professional and award-winning photographer that loves taking dramatic and different images. I’m based in Edmonton, but I frequently travel to photograph clients all around the world. It’s been almost 20 years of constant pursuit to create unique works of art for my clients and for myself.

I’ve won numerous international photography and photojournalism awards from the Wedding Photojournalist Association, the Artistic Guild of the WPJA, Fearless Photographers Organization, International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada and I’ve been recommended by Newsweek, StyleMePretty, Junebug Weddings, Wedluxe, Perfect Wedding Magazine, Blush Magazine, Wedding Photographer Select Europe, Signature Weddings, MyWed, Weddingbells, Brides Magazine, Bridal Expo, Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, Oasis Conference Centre, CityTV, CBC, Global TV, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, and various media networks for my innovative style of capturing emotional moments and creative portraits.

I’ve also acted as a judge for the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers competition as well as the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada contests. I’ve been named in the top 5% photographers in Wedding Wire, top 3 photographers in the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada, top 25 wedding photographers by Wedding Bells Magazine, and top 50 photojournalists by the WPJA.

I am extremely organized, disciplined, and pride myself on my ability to provide high-quality work for every project I undertake.

Here are some current interesting facts about me!

My favorite color is chartreuse (a lime green) – It’s been 2 decades since I fell in love with this color. In fact, that’s why my company name is Elaine Green but chartreuse is rather hard to explain or spell.

I am an operating room registered nurse (BScN from the University of Alberta) and I currently work at several hospitals around the city. I absolutely love ortho and general surgery, though I also need my artistic outlets in photography and music education!

I teach and play lots of musical instruments! Long ago at age 15, I completed my ARCT degree in piano from the Royal Conservatory of Music and wanted to further pursue further studies at Juilliard, but tuition was expensive so instead, I chose to pursue a BComm at the University of Alberta 🙂 I play mainly piano and violin, but I also play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, organ, and cello. I’ve taught piano to over hundreds of students for 30+ years since 1992 and currently teach up to 20 students each week. In the past, I was a business development manager who led successful launches in product design and national advertising campaigns, I was co-owner of Just Married Photography from 2004 to 2012.

My talented associate photographer, Duane, is the second shooter for my larger wedding commissions, who also happens to be my husband. He is super creative and everybody instantly loves him, he has that heartwarming effect! Duane and I have a beautiful boy named James, and we absolutely adore him!

When people ask how do I juggle being a photographer, an operating room RN, and a music teacher, I say I’m happiest doing all the things I love, equally, at manageable pace. I won’t take on more clients, students, or hospital shifts unless I can put my 110% into it. I always bring on my A game to every task I undertake, and I love what I do.

My hobbies are traveling, naps, cleaning, and learning about self productivity.

My mottos are: 1) It is better to be half an hour early than to be a minute late 2) Aim to be better every day than the last 3) Be like water – adapt, grow, and change

I am happiest when: I see people really excited or being passionate about something!
