“It’s extremely rewarding doing what I do – I enjoy being able to capture the best side of people and preserving memories that last a lifetime. Photos become more and more valuable as each day passes. It’s been over a decade of constant pursuit to create innovative works of art for my clients and for myself, an unending labor of love.”
I’m Elaine Gan, a creative professional and award-winning photographer that loves taking dramatic and different images. It’s been over a decade of constant pursuit to create unique works of art for my clients and for myself.
I’ve won numerous international photography and photojournalism awards from the Wedding Photojournalist Association, the Artistic Guild of the WPJA, Fearless Photographers Organization, International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers, the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada and I’ve been recommended by StyleMePretty, Junebug Weddings, Wedluxe, Perfect Wedding Magazine, Blush Magazine, Wedding Photographer Select Europe, Signature Weddings, MyWed, Weddingbells, Brides Magazine, Bridal Expo, Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, Oasis Conference Centre, CityTV, CBC, Global TV, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, and various media networks for my innovative style of capturing emotional moments and creative portraits.
I’ve also acted a judge for the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers competition as well as the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada contests. I’ve been named in the top 5% photographers in Wedding Wire, top 3 photographers in the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada, top 25 wedding photographers by Wedding Bells Magazine, and top 50 photojournalists by the WPJA.
I am extremely motivated, organized and pride myself on my ability to provide high-quality work for every project I undertake.
Here are some current interesting facts about me!
My favorite color is chartreuse (a lime green) – It’s been more than 10 years since I fell in love with this color. In fact, that’s why my company name is Elaine Green but chartreuse is rather hard to explain or spell.
In the past, I was a business development manager who led successful launches in product design and national advertising campaigns.
Currently, I’m a nurse in training at the University of Alberta graduating in 2018! It’s been a long-term goal of mine.
I teach and play lots of musical instruments! After high school, I was planning to study piano in Juilliard, but it was too expensive! So I chose Business at the UofA instead 🙂 I play mainly piano and violin, but I also play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, drums, organ, and cello. Though what I really want to learn next is the accordion, since Astor Piazzolla is my favorite composer right now. I teach piano during the evenings, if you are interested in learning, please view my other website Edmonton Piano Teachers.
My name used to be Elaine Soong and I was co-owner/photographer for Just Married Photography from 2004-2014.
Minimalism is an ongoing process for me, as it’s freeing to donate more of my stuff and shed the shackles of consumerism that prevails in our culture. Life is about collecting experiences and not things. However, you can never have enough pictures!
I am married to the most wonderful person ever, Duane Cheung! Life is blissful and fun with him and he brings me absolute joy to my life. He is also a very talented photographer and is often the second shooter for my wedding photography commissions. Everybody instantly loves him, he has that effect!
Duane and I have a beautiful baby named James! He’s super cute and super active all the time 🙂 We adore him!
In my spare time, I love travelling, biking, volleyball, and the art of tidiness.
I also like the color fuchsia: my lipstick is usually MAC Impassioned, a wonderful hot pink.
I am happiest when: I see people really excited or being passionate about something!
I look forward to meeting you!
