I’m really excited to announce that SpiderHolster chose me as their newest ambassador!
The SpiderPro Single Camera System from Spider Camera Holster is a hip-mounted holster that provides a way to wear your DSLR on your waist, so instead of having 2 cameras dangling from your shoulders, The Spider gives you the freedom to hold one camera in your hands while the other rests on your hip.
The system is comprised of four pieces. The SpiderPro belt, which holds the entire rig, the holster that holds the camera, the plate that attaches to the tripod socket of your camera and the pin that is attached to the plate. The entire assembly slides into the holster which secures to the belt using Spider’s two-position lock system. When the camera is slid into the holster, it locks into place. When placed into the upper portion of the holster, the lock releases and your camera is ready to be drawn – just as if you were wearing a holstered pistol. The holster is attached using a large quick-release buckle.
The Spider Holster has significantly improved life as a professional photographer. With my creative photojournalistic style, I’ve got to be a ninja, climbing up trees, ladders, hills to get a unique and different perspective than usual. I don’t want to be weighed down carrying gear awkwardly, nor do I want to miss any crucial moments because I’m not ready with my camera. When I’m eating (usually very hurriedly) at a reception, there’s no need to worry about leaving it unattended as it is always attached to me. I even wear it while driving to and from shoot locations. When I’m exploring downtown NYC or Shanghai it’s so much easier to access my dslr on my belt than to rummage in my backpack when I want a quick shot of what’s happening around me. The Spider Holster was super helpful during my trek climbing the Great Wall of China! It’s lightning fast to quickly access my camera or flash from my belt, and then locks back to my belt just as quickly. My favorite feature of the Spider Holster is its ability to keep my hands free! Now I can frequently adjust my lighting setups, quickly adjust people I’m posing, easily carry my gear and lights around while walking between locations and it gives me a sense of freedom that is indescribable.
